ETHICAL & SUSTAINABLE

Please find a detailed description below of our pledge to maintain fair treatment of our workers and artisans and a commitment to making sustainable swim pieces and clothing.

ETHICALY MADE

FACTORY VISITS
We regularly conduct in-person factory visits to ensure that all legal standards are met and the people are treated fairly with safe working conditions.

LEGAL STANDARDS
All factories must adhere to all legal requirements, international standards, national and local laws and regulations.

WAGES, BENEFITS, AND WORKING HOURS
All factories must comply with all laws regulating local wages, overtime compensation and legally mandated benefits. Employees do not work over 40 hours a week, are entitled to overtime and have at least one day off in seven. For example, our store and factory employees in Nicaragua receive 30 paid vacation days a year, work 40 hours a week, have a 1 hour lunch break at noon, paid a 13th month every December, paid above minimum wage, and receive a full liquidation if they  leave their job. Liquidation is calculated by remaining vacation time, length spent at work and paying out the 13th month.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
All factories must provide a safe and healthy work environment, where employees must not be subject to unsanitary or hazardous conditions.

NONDISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT
All factories must treat employees fairly and with respect. No employee shall be subject to physical, sexual, verbal harassment or abuse.

ORGANIZING
All employees must be free to join organizations of their own choosing, including but not limited to, trade unions and freely participate in collective bargaining

without fear.

CHILD AND FORCED LABOR
All factories must employee people who are 18 or older. Our suppliers must not use involuntary or forced labor. Factory employees must be legal residents of the country and provide proper documentation to ensure no one is working due to human trafficking.

ARTISAN SUPPORT
We must provide fair payment for all artisan services by paying a deposit for half the amount of services provided and allowing the artisans to chose the price of goods sold.

SUSTANABILITY

COMPOSTABLE BAGS
We use compostable bags to minimize the negative impact of plastic bags. Our bags can be added to a home or industrial compost, and a landfill where they will decompose in a couple months.

FABRIC
The majority of our clothing fabric is made out of old, leftover, and over-ordered fabric from other designers and fabric warehouses. This allows us to reuse and divert these materials from the landfill and into your closet.

DIGITAL PRINTS
The majority of our prints are digitally engineered to reduce fabric waste . Digital printing reduces water waste because the fabric does not need as many rinse cycles and also screens, that are normally used for traditional wet printing, do not require cleaning and therefore no wasteful water.

SMALL PRODUCTION RUNS
MOIETII garments are all made in small production runs, ensuring there is not excess waste.
